Jocelyn Rochefort Simard discovers a love of art as a very young age, but chose to raise a family and retire before becoming a professional painter and sculptor. His passion for novelty leads him becoming one of the only researcher in tangible art. He develops various techniques, styles and movements in visual arts. His main discovery is a canvas mounting technique using Styrofoam. From that was born neo-synthetic art. Two main techniques spawn from this new approach to visual arts: Open framing and 2D-3D art. A plethora of other novelties also come to life before he creates neo-synthetic art to encompass them all.

Jocelyn is also the author of an art book focused on his various new techniques. It is available at multiple museums across Canada, including the National Museum of Fine Arts of Quebec and the National Gallery of Canada.
